Although this is not my son, it could certainly be!
This little guy's body posture and the obvious frustration
is EXACTLY what we see, day after day.
It makes my heart bleed as he rocks to comfort himself and soothe his frustrations of the day.
Sometimes his little world is just too big and too overwhelming...
ADHD, Sensory Overload, Severe Mood Disregulation, Anxiety, and Social Difficulties
make for very, very, very long days!
Here is a peek into what a few moments in his shoes might look like for those of you who are interested in trying to empathize:
Imagine this "annoyance" all the time 24/7 when you are trying to work, play, talk to someone, read, relax, or whatever.
How would you feel day after day, week after week?
How would you learn as a child when this is what your mind does to you all the time?
Would you be stressed, irritable, anxious, tired, or something else...?
Imagine the coping skills you intrinsically use to deal with stress are deemed "maladaptive" and are viewed by society as a bit more than odd or quirky. And what if your coping skills interfere with your learning and or daily functioning as you are always over stressed and overcompensating in a world that assaults your senses?
